It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the final thing rival teams at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
